Large quantity pickup is built for exactly that. The pickup is free regardless of volume. The donor packs the books in advance into boxes or sturdy bags, and the Local Pick-Up Partner shows up on the scheduled day to load the already-packed boxes.

How to Estimate Volume When You Schedule

You don't need to count individual books. "About six bookshelves." "Twenty boxes." "A whole spare bedroom of books." Anything in that ballpark gives your partner enough to plan. Most large pickups in Fort Collins get handled in a single van trip.

Pack things up before pickup day. The partner does not bring boxes, so plan ahead — moving boxes, banker's boxes, sturdy reusable totes, or doubled grocery bags all work. If you need extra time, schedule a week or two out.

What Happens After a Fort Collins Bulk Pickup

Many items are redistributed through the Give ME Books program to schools, libraries, literacy nonprofits, and other organizations across the Northern Front Range. Some items may be resold to help sustain the free pickup service. Items that cannot be reused may eventually be recycled as a last resort.
