What Does the Resale Money Actually Pay For?

Fuel, the vehicle, insurance, the bins and shelving on the sorting end, and the hours a partner spends working through a load book by book. That is the whole list, and none of it is glamorous.

Does Resale Mean My Donation Is Not Really a Donation?

Weigh it against what else was going to happen. A shelf that stays full for six more years. Boxes going soft in a garage until a storm makes the decision for you and they are sent to a landfill. A resold book is a book somebody in this city buys for two dollars and reads on a Sunday. That is not nothing.

What Give My Books Network Will Not Claim

Four things, said plainly. Not every book is donated. Not every book is resold. No individual title can be steered to a particular school. And there is no tax receipt.

That last one catches people. Give My Books Network and its Local Pick-Up Partners are locally owned family businesses, not 501(c)(3) nonprofits, so no tax-deduction form is issued. If a receipt is what you need, a registered nonprofit is the right destination and we would say so.

Nobody here will tell you your mother's library funded a classroom in Ybor City. What we can tell you is that it was sorted by hand, by a family living twenty minutes away, and that none of it sat in a garage for another decade.

How a Tampa Pickup Day Runs

Pack your books and media before the service day, set the boxes out in the morning, and a Local Pick-Up Partner collects them between 8 AM and 8 PM. You do not need to be home.

The partner does not bring boxes and does not pack your shelves on the day. Bag the books, then box them, and keep every box light enough that one person can carry it.

Set out in the morning, under the carport or porch. Never the night before between June and September, when the afternoon storm is close to a scheduled event.
