That's the menu. Pack the books, schedule a free pickup, set them outside. Many items redistributed through the Give ME Books program. Some resold. Items that cannot be reused may eventually be recycled as a last resort. The big advantage is friction. No driving, no loading the trunk twice, no waiting at a drop-off. ## Other Options **Library or thrift store drop-off.** The Saint Petersburg public library and some thrift stores accept donations within their limits. Calling ahead saves a wasted trip. **Selling yourself.** Some books have real resale value. Most general-interest books don't. The time spent listing rarely pays back. **Friends or Little Free Libraries.** Works for small volumes. Saint Petersburg has Little Free Libraries scattered through walkable parts of Crescent Lake and elsewhere. **Recycling as a last resort.** Some books really can't be reused. Doorstep pickup handles that routing automatically. ## How to Choose For most Saint Petersburg residents and most situations, doorstep pickup wins. It handles any volume, any mix of formats, any condition. The American Library Association's Book Donation Programs guide (https://libguides.ala.org/book-donations) outlines how community book donation programs route donated material and how they fit alongside drop-off, resale, and recycling channels. Give My Books Network is a nationwide community book-sharing network, and the Saint Petersburg pickups are handled by independent Local Pick-Up Partners who live and work in the same neighborhoods you do. Many items collected end up with schools, libraries, and literacy programs that request books through the Give ME Books program. ### Ready to schedule your free Saint Petersburg book pickup?
